Hi There!

It's been absolutely crazy over here the last couple of weeks.

We've been getting ready for our Internet Marketing Bootcamp - an elite seminar that we're running and just going through all of our information is just boggling the brain!!!

It's been 4 years since we started making money on the internet and so many things have changed!

It seems like yesterday I was reading Shawn Casey's "Mining Gold" for the first time (remember that!) and now here I am neck high in power point slides and I can't believe how much I've learned and can still learn -- There's so much to be said for continous learning!

Don't you love that that's what our industry is all about!

I need to get to bed now...or watch "Lost" I haven't decided ;)

Email Backup Software

One of the things you want to keep up to date on is to back up your emails. It can cause huge problems if you lose all your emails.

I use both Outlook Express and Outlook for my emails.

To backup Outlook Express, I use Incahis, which does a good job and is free. It backs up multiple email identities in Outlook Express as well as Explorer Favourites.

It does not recover your signatures, but that is pretty easy to set up again.

You can choose to restore all or some of your emails.

For backing up Outlook, I use BackRex, which does a complete backup free also. I believe that if you purchase the software, it will also backup your signatures.

This is a really great program I discovered, because Outlook is os much more than just email. So it recovers all of your contacts, calendars, meetings, etc.

So try to keep your backups current so you can use these programs should your computer malfunction.

(By the way, I like to keep my backups on an external harddrive.)

One of the things that surprised me when I had to reformat my computer was that the pre-intalled Windows Media Player (which I prefer to play audio and video) only played audio.

I had to grab a Codec Patch to play video:

I uninstalled MusicMatch, which I find just gets in the way.

So far, all of video files I have tried have worked fine.

I would not recommend installing other codec packages (all-in-one codc packages) as they can mess around with the original codecs.

What Software I Use On My Computer

I recently had to reformat my computer and re-partition the hard drive. And it got me thinking which software I actually use.

I'm a bit of a software junkie.

For example, when I click the "Start" menu in XP and select "All Programs" I have too many programs to even show up in those 4 columns.

So when I had to reformat my computer, I thought this would be a great time to see what software is inportant to re-install.

Well, the bad news is there is still alot. And as I load more software, I'll let you know. I think this is one of the things that is really important.

OK.

So one of the first programs I installed was a virus program, AVG. You can download AVG virus program here. It's free and it works. (My computer came pre-installed with McAfee, but I don't like that software at all, so I uninstalled it.)

If you have trouble finding the "FREE" version, just click on the sitemap and you'll find it that way.

My subscribers ask me frequently which type of web design software
I use to build (and manage) my websites. I think I get asked this
question quite a bit because I have STRONG SEO positioning in the
Search Engines, which lends CREDIBILITY to what I do.

It's an easy question to answer, but the reasons why are more
difficult...

...And the reason I say that is because most people DON'T KNOW what
kind of features and tools they will NEED in their website site as
they LEARN more and BUILD their own internet empire.

That's the biggest trap on the internet -- things can look good,

Hi,

I had an .avi video file from a marketing seminar that Mike Filsaime of Butterfly Marketing had put on a year ago, but for some reason the video portion would not play.

So I had a huge file that played only audio, but no video.

And from the sound of it, it would be alot easier to understand from watching teh slides at the seminar from which it was recorded.

Well, after some trouble, I found a way to locate the proper codec

Windows Security Flaw

A few days ago, there was a huge, dangerous flaw uncovered which could cause some serous damage to your machine.

Microsoft has finished the patch for the Windows Critical Flaw.

Sorry I couldn't get this out sooner, but we had a hard drivecrash. (Not fun!) Fortunately, I was able to back up most of our important data.

Please ensure that you are on the Microsoft website when youdownload the patch -- and do not download the patch from any othersource. You can also update your computer via Windows Update or MicrosoftUpdate if you have these services installed on your computer.

There is an excellent FAQ on this subject at the Castle Cops security website. This FAQ should answer any questions that you mayhave about thisissue much better than I ever could. The URL for the Castle CopsFAQ is:

It's a good time to go over some basics for keeping your computer safe is 2006.

Always have an updated virus protection program. I use http://www.grisoft.com, which is totally free.

And, perhaps more importantly, you need to make sure your computer is free of spyware/malware, which is often not just advertising and annoying pop-ups, but can leave your personal information vulnerable, including your credit cards.

I used to use adaware by http://www.lavasoft.com/, but they missed too many key spyware elements. And that just wasn't good enough.
